about

Our maiden's depression vanished the very next morning giving way to anxiety and a terrible sense of wonder. The Feeling never left her and neither did the sense that something incredible was happening. She had trouble sleeping and she began to write in her journal constantly. She wondered, "Who was this man? What does he want from me? Why can't I stop thinking about him?" For the first time in her life she felt she was special, like she had been chosen. Then late one night just before the strike of three o'clock, as though it arose from the Feeling, a voice spoke to her. "Do you love me?"
And again, as though it arose from the Feeling, her own voice spoke from her own lips, "I do," she said. She flipped on the lamp beside her bed and lay there for a few minutes with her heart racing, butterflies in her stomach. Then, as though the Feeling was guiding her, she opened a small chest she kept in her dresser drawer. She began to mix a variety of herbs into her favorite jar, but as she did so she spoke words she had never heard before. She mixed the herbs into a tea and upon drinking every last bitter drop she fell into a deep sleep.
She dreamed once more about the long-dead troubadour and his orchestra. She was alone in a black nothingness. The music seemed to be coming from everywhere, but her love seemed to be singing directly to her. "I wanna love you forever," he sang. She danced in ecstasy. She came outside of herself, whirling around herself. All the while her former self danced. Her life flashed before her eyes. She saw flashes from her childhood and understood their significance. She saw her parents on their first date and could feel the seed of their love for one another. She witnessed unspeakable horrors from ages past. She began to identify with them as she simultaneously witnessed these atrocities in the cosm of her soul, the violence she committed against her self. "This is amazing," she said, "What do you call this Feeling?"
“Power,” said her love.
