about

When they returned to the pyramid after their walk the band had already begun to party. They were drinking aged wine from the cellar leftover from Sir Deja Doog's funeral. In the daylight the pyramid didn't look gloomy at all, for a crypt. Our maiden noticed that the hole through which the moon had shown the night before was only one of a series of holes in the ceiling which allowed the sun to shine. The bones created shadows in spiraling patterns. It was quite a nice crypt, actually.
Sir Deja Doog introduced her to the band and sent someone out for pizza, “I've been thinking about pizza for more years than I'd care to remember!” He added as the bass player walked out, “Get the nacho cheeze sauze if they've got it!”
She felt she had lost his attention. What did he bring her here for? A walk and pizza? Furthermore, how is this fucking happening right now? She reached for his hand, “Is that all you were thinking about,” she asked in a voice that was kind of sultry but kind of just letting you know that she's making it sultry, “pizza?”
“No.” He seemed slightly taken aback and it scared her a little. He regained his composure and spoke affectionately, “we have a lot to talk about.”
The two of them found a spot to themselves where the sun shown warmly. Holding hands, they became engrossed in conversation, so much that the pizza arrived and was nearly finished before somebody called out to them, “if you want a slice you better get it now!”
They each grabbed a slice and Deja offered to show her around the place. She was excited to finally get a chance to be alone with him. What she had been hoping to be true was true. Deja knew everything about her. He had been watching her for her entire life. It wasn't until her imminent suicide that he intervened and sent her through a portal to another world. “There's more,” he told her in a very grave tone, “but it can wait for now. For now, let's enjoy this moment.”
It turned out to be an extensive pyramid. They walked hand in hand by torchlight exploring the various rooms and speaking in low tones. She wanted him terribly, but he kept himself at a finger's length. She knew he knew what he was doing!
At the end of a long hallway was a room with a closed door. Deja spoke an indecipherable incantation and the door opened. They walked through it and it closed itself.
“Darling,” he touched the torch to wall, igniting a ring of fire in a basin around the room.
“Yes, Deja,” spoke the maiden.
“What's your stop word,” his eyes glowing as the fire illuminated the room.
She trusted him completely, “Vesuvius.”
